TOYING WITH UTOPIA at 313designmarket Part of DesignTO Festival - Toronto Feb 6 - Feb 12, 2020

Part of DesignTO 2020, Toying With Utopia is site-specific arrangement of 50,000+ LegoTM bricks into a Habitat67-like fantasy city with 1000 terraced pavilions, an illuminated mega-tower and kinetic buildings literally moving through the landscape. It's an optimistic assembly of elements that speak to the inherent creativity and ever-evolving nature of cities, skylines and the communities they enable.

I’m also exhibiting (and selling!) some of the illustrations that inspire my architectural follies - the follies themselves - framed urban elements - and my new EXPO SERIES sconces.

PEN & BRICK: The LEGO sculptures of Raymond Girard and the drawings that have inspired them

Back by popular demand: another site-specific sculptural installation by GTA artist Raymond Girard will take over Akasha Art Projects from November 14 to January 5 2020. This holiday season's 50,000 LEGOTM brick architectonic wonderland will be supplemented by 12 of the pen & ink drawings that have inspired Raymond's sculptural take on the built environment. Spanning the decades since 1990, his intricate drawings weave pop culture references, the design of Worlds Fairs and global events into 2-dimensional "blueprints" for 11 of his framed sculptural musings on show at the gallery. Akasha Art Projects, 204D Carlton Street, Toronto (Cabbagetown). Gallery closed Sundays and Mondays.
